Two Weeks

Yes, it's been two weeks since I've updated my blog. Shame on me! My apologies, life gets in the way. I figured I'd better give you all an update before I lose all my readers!

First up is Happy Flag Flag Day. Still working on it. Should have been finished by now. (Re-read the quip above about life getting in the way and insert here.) Correction to last post about this design: I'm an idiot! This is NOT a Bent Creek design ~ it is a Trilogy design. I know, same difference but it needed to be said!

Still fun to stitch even if those stripes are a booger and a half. The Fourth of July is coming up quick ~ will I finish? Stay tuned!

This cute teapot appeared at my door. Wow! An RAK from Lindsay of Caring Stitcher. Isn't it cute? It's teeny ~ maybe four inches tall. I adore it to pieces. Thank you, Lindsay!

Then, these adorable little scissors came from Kim of Sense and Stitchability as a donation to the Totally Useless giveaway. I'm very excited things are still trickling in! Thank you, Kim!

Other than stitching, what else have I been up to?

*Melting. Oklahoma has been hot. With very little rain. I was worried already about this coming summer. The entire United States was covered in blizzards all winter. Then we all had horrible rain/flooding/tornadoes in the spring. What else could one expect but dreadful summer temperatures and drought this season? I just want some decent weather, dammit!

*Playing Dog Chef. Sheba took quite a while to recover from her tummy upset. She was able to eat nothing except brown rice, yogurt and cottage cheese for a long time. She is fully recovered now and is happily eating dog kibble again. She lost a lot of weight but it looks good on her as she was a bit of a porker anyway!

*Shopping. Rick went out of town and I went crazy. Suddenly tired of wearing ratty old tshirts and faded jeans I took myself out and bought clothes. I came home and threw away nearly everything in my closet. I will admit to saving a couple of ratty things for dirty jobs like painting! This is actually a REALLY BIG THING for me. I hate clothes shopping with a passion.

*Crying. I attended the funeral of my friends 27 day old grandson who died in a tragic accident. Funerals are never fun but this one was especially sad. This is now on the "definitely never want to do ever again" list.

*Planning. I want to go away. I really don't care where, just away. I need a vacation! Really, really bad.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Missed you. Congrats on the new clothes. And the stitching is beautiful.
I agree with you on the never want to do this again. There is nothing, I mean nothing sadder than seeing a baby coffin. They shouldn't even make them that small.

Nice stitching! Love that teapot -- so cute! That is so sad about your friend's grandchild. OMG, what a tragedy. So awful. Hope your Sheba is feeling all back to normal now. And yes, the weather has been so weird this year. I'm hoping for good weather! Good for you for buying new clothes! And yes, we need a vacation too -- nothing planned, but it's desperately needed!

beautifull scissor!!!
The weather is so strange this year!!
Glad your dog is better, and you have shopped for new clothes.
Young people dying is so tragic... This week here in town a girl of 21 died in her car, she lost the way on the road, and drove in to a tree..
so tragic

Daff, I have missed you so, it was a loooong 2 weeks. Kiss, kiss, kiss!

Your WIP is divine, as always...I love the flag! God Bless America :)

I am so sorry to read about your friends grandson, what a tragedy beyond belief and how hard it must have been to attend the funeral, but I can imagine what a comfort it was to your friend to have you there :)

Ma "Teakettle" is in love, IN LOVE, with your teapot, it is just too sweet, and what a wonderful RAK from Lindsay!

I adore the scissors that have been sent for the giveaway, what a generous soul Kim is.

I am so glad that Sheba is feeling better and eating again, what a scarey spell that was, especially when it's a loved one who cannot tell you what's wrong. Hugs to Sheba!

Yay for you! High five and hot diggity dog, GF, I am so proud of you as I am a clothes shopping avoider as well. Might we have some pics? :)And, I must say that a whole new wardrobe just screams "vacation baby!"

XOXO
Ma

Wow, sounds like you've had a lot going on lately. I am so sorry to hear about your friend's grandson. How tragic! So glad to hear Sheba is doing much better.

New clothes are exciting but I have my ups and downs about shopping too. I'd rather shop for shoes and bags than clothes. lol

Hope things start to slow down and get better!

Sorry to hear about your friend's grandson. It's always awful to hear about something like that. Glad you're planning. If you need to get away, you need to. I hope you have a peaceful getaway without things like lost luggage and bent taxi drivers. Sorry about the melting. We've been hot here, but we've had decent rain. Enough to cause some flash flooding recently. It seems to always be feast or famine with the weather lately. Ick!! The scissors are cute. Love the flag you made and the teapot flag. Well done!

What a cute flag piece, Sharon--I'm working on one, too, just hoping to be done by the 4th. All those stripes get a bit monotonous after a while, don't they?

So sorry to read about your friend's grandson--I can't even imagine how sad that must have been...

I'm laughing about your going on a spending spree when your husband was out of town. I did the same thing last week, only I did all my shopping online! There comes a time when you're just sick of everything in your closet, that's for sure!

Hope you get a getaway very soon--sounds like you could use it :)

What a rough ride you've had! I'm so very sorry about your friend's grandson. I know how difficult this must have been for you and your friend. I lost a sister at 6 mos of age and although I was young I still remember the heartbreak my parents went through. My heart and my prayers go out to them.

It must be a relief to you now that Sheba has recovered. Poor pet, it really took a toll on her!

Your Happy Flag stitch is really cute! Hope you can get in some time to finish it off before the Fourth. Love the teapot too!

I really hope you are able to get some time away if even for a day or two. If I were closer I'd pick you up myself and whisk you off!

Hey, I just now posted my Useless SAL post. Sorry it's so late. It's explained in the blog post, but basically because I was using Gmail as my account email or whatever, when Google did all their updates it screwed everything up and I haven't been able to log in until now.

Anne said...

Your start on your Happy flag is looking great! Adorable teapot and scissors! What lovely RAK's!!I hope Sheba will add a bit more weight to her frame, its awful when your pet gets too skinny (like my old cat). I also hate clothes shopping but when I shop I shop! Good to hear you cleared out space in your closet! Sorry to hear about the funeral you attended. Hopefully you won't have to go to another one like that again.

Do go away even if it's for a weekend. It does a world of good to take a small trip, even if it's not that far from home.

You'll never loose your readers. Life happens and we all understand that.

I've posted my TUSAL early. Holiday weekends and all....

Happy 4th!

I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's loss. I too agree that the worse ones to go to are the ones for young people. I've gone to way too many of those! (brother, nephew, student) My heart aches for his parents.

I too can relate to hating to shop for clothes. We recently went on a long vacation and I was FORCED to buy clothes for it. In the end though it is now wonderful to have new clothes to wear!

Take care and thanks again for your TUSAL organization. I actually stitched yesterday, and finished my TUSAL update just now.

What a horrible loss for parents - I agree with you, that would definitely be on my "never want to endure this again" list. ((( hugs )))

I've updated my TUSAL for the month. Have a safe and happy 4th! http://measi.net/measiblog/2011/07/02/tusal-update-july-2011/

So sorry about your friends grandson. It is the worse than the worst feeling in the world. Not a club anyone should belong to ever.

I see that you are having a TUSAL giveaway. I can send you something for it if you like.

Let me know. I would be glad to do so.

I love those little scissors too!!

Going to read more of your blog. It's a great place.
